Isn’t the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) for radiologists?
Q. What is CERT?
A. CERT is online Continuing Education for Radiologic Technologists, which provides American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Category A credit via monthly lessons. Lessons focus on topic areas needed most by technologists including CT, mammography and MRI and provide 1 ARRT Category A credit each. The mission of CERT is to provide continuing education for radiologic technologists through focused content recognized worldwide for its quality and timeliness.
Q. What organization approves CERT lessons for ARRT Category A credit?
A. The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) has been approved by the ARRT Board of Trustees as a Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism (RCEEM). RCEEMs are the organizations approved by the ARRT to grant credit to radiologic technologists.
Q. What makes CERT unique compared to other CE products for radiologic technologists?
A. CERT lessons are clinically focused and practical with content selected from the ARRS’ premier American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR)by a top radiologic educator specifically for technologists. This CE product utilizes peer-reviewed materials from a highly respected radiologic journal allowing technologists to enrich their skills as part of the radiologic team.
Q. How do I subscribe to CERT?
A. There are three easy ways to subscribe to CERT:
- Complete the online order form with credit card payment.
- Download the order form and fax it with credit card payment to 703-729-4839.

If you are a radiologic technologist member of the ARRS, you will automatically receive CERT as part of your membership.
Q. What does a CERT subscription include?
A. A CERT subscription will provide online access to up to 24 lessons worth 1 ARRT Category A credit each in a one-year period. Each online lesson will provide required reading, a post-test, evaluation, and the opportunity to print a CE certificate. New lessons are added each month.
Q. How much does a CERT subscription cost?
A. A one-year CERT subscription costs $45. Radiologic technologist members of the ARRS automatically receive a CERT subscription as a member benefit. Nonmembers must purchase a CERT subscription.
Q. Can I become a member of the ARRS?
A. Absolutely! Radiologic technologists are eligible and encouraged to join the ARRS. If you are in North America or a U.S. territory, you would apply for Associate membership and indicate you are a radiologic technologist. If you are outside North America or a U.S. territory, you would apply for International membership. You must complete a membership application, which may be done online or using a downloadable application.

Q. How many CE credits can I earn with a CERT subscription?
A. CERT subscribers will be able to earn up to 24 ARRT Category A CE credits with a one-year CERT subscription. Some states may have CE requirements beyond those of the ARRT. Please check with your state to determine your specific CE requirements.
Q. How will I know the subscription has been processed?
A. Subscribers will receive an e-mail confirmation including instructions on how to access CERT online once the order and payment has been received and processed. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. You will receive an e-mail from cert@arrs.org or straylor@arrs.org with instructions to access CERT online once your account has been activated. Please be sure your e-mail SPAM filtering system is set-up to receive messages from e-mail accounts that end with @arrs.org. If after 3 weeks, you have not received an e-mail confirmation, please confirm that the message was not blocked by your e-mail SPAM filter, and then follow up with the ARRS at cert@arrs.org about your CERT subscription.
Q. Is there a CERT refund policy?
A. Refunds will be issued within 10 business days of purchase provided none of the CERT lessons have been completed.
Q. How do I access/login to CERT lessons?
A. To access CERT lessons, go to http://www.arrs.org/lifelonglearning/cert/ and click on Login on the top left-hand side of the page. Enter the Login and Password provided in the email confirmation you received upon completion of processing.
Your CERT/ARRS Login will be the first initial of your first name and the first initial of your last name with your six-digit ID number. Your Password is your six-digit ID number. Please be sure to capitalize your initials when entering your Login. For example, Jane Smith with an ID number of 123456 would login with:
Login: JS123456
Password: 123456
Once you have logged in, select the lesson you wish to access.
Q. What do I do if I cannot remember my Login and Password?
A. If you do not know your six-digit CERT/ARRS ID number, you may:
1. Email cert@arrs.org to request the information.
2. Phone 800-438-2777 or 703-729-3353 to request the information.
3. Click here to retrieve your password.
Q. How will I know when a new CERT lesson is available?
A. All ARRS radiologic technologist members and CERT subscribers will receive an email notification each month when a new CERT lesson has become available.
Q. Can I start the required reading and then come back to it later?
A. Yes, you may start the reading and then come back to it later; however all reading must be completed prior to taking the post-test.
Q. How many questions do I need to answer correctly to pass the post-test for each lesson?
A. A score of 75% or better must be obtained to pass the post-test and obtain ARRT Category A credit. This is a requirement of the ARRT.
Q. Can I start the post-test and then come back to it later?
A. Once you have started the post-test you must complete it. You will not be able to stop in the middle of the test and come back to it later.
Q. How will I know if I passed the post-test?
A. You will receive a message indicating you have passed the post-test as well as provide the number of questions and the percentage answered correctly.
Q. What if I do not pass the post-test the first time?
A. Each post-test may be taken up to three times as long as your CERT subscription or ARRS membership is current and the lesson is still available for credit.
Q. What are the computer system requirements for using CERT?
A. Computer systems must meet the following system requirements to access CERT:

Q. I am not able to open the CERT PDF article. What can I do?
A. Try the following to fix the problem:
- Make sure your Internet Explore Pop-up Blocker is not turned on.
- Save the file to your computer.
Q. The text of the CERT PDF article is too small for me to read online. What can I do?
A. If you would like to read a CERT PDF articles online, increase the view size to 125%. Another option would be print the document and read it offline.
Q. I am having trouble printing the CERT PDF article. What can I do?
A. Try the following to fix the problem:
- Print one page at a time instead of the entire article.
- Print the article to another printer if one is available.
- Save the file before printing the article.
Q. How long will I have access to CERT lessons after my subscription starts?
A. During a one-year subscription or membership period, you will have access to up to 24 CERT lessons. If a CERT lesson is active, you will have access to it during your subscription or membership. CERT lessons are approved for ARRT Category A credit for a period of 2 years.
Q. Will I have access to CERT after my subscription expires?
A. Only active ARRS radiologic technologist members and current CERT subscribers have access to CERT. Once your subscription or membership ends, you will no longer have access to any CERT lessons including the required readings, post-test and certificates.
Q. How do I receive my certificate?
A. After successfully completing the post-test and evaluation, you will be able to print your certificate as long as your CERT subscription or ARRS membership is current.

Q. Isn’t the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) for radiologists?
A. The ARRS’ mission is to be the educational resource for the radiology team. While the majority of ARRS members are radiologists, there are also radiologic technologist members, physicist members, along with other members of the radiology team. The ARRS understands the growing role radiologic technologists play in today’s radiologic workplace. Many examinations and procedures are team based with technologists and radiologists working together. The ARRS, and in particular its’ journal the AJR, has a reputation for providing timely and practical information that is useful to everyone in radiology.
