AJR Notches Historic Impact Factor Increase

Leesburg, VA | June 17, 2026—The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) proudly announces an increase in the Impact Factor for American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) to 7.4—the journal’s highest Impact Factor for as far back as data are made available by Clarivate Analytics. This historic increase places “the yellow journal” at #13 out of 217 journals in the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Medical Imaging category, securing a 94.2nd percentile ranking in the category—which also marks AJR’s highest recorded percentile ranking.

Additionally, AJR’s Immediacy Index (a metric measuring how frequently an article is cited within the same calendar year it was published) increased from 4.1 to 4.9. This exceptional score ranks AJR #3 in its category.

Further demonstrating the journal's immense reach and scholarly influence, AJR recorded an impressive 31,027 total citations over the calendar year.

"The rise in Impact Factor signifies AJR’s growing influence in the field, and we are indebted to our authors for entrusting us with their work. The achievement is also a testament to our reviewers, editors, publications team, and other contributors. We extend our gratitude to everyone who has helped make this continued growth possible," said AJR’s 13th Editor-in-Chief, Andrew B. Rosenkrantz, MD.
