Wellness for Trainees

April 24, 2024

Broadcasted Live and Online 12:00 noon-1:00 pm, Eastern Time
Moderator: Jess Wen, MD, PhD
Speakers: Amanda Rigas, MD, Ralph Drosten, MD

Radiology trainees face a unique set of barriers that can negatively impact their well-being. This was exacerbated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when radiology residency programs nationwide were forced to make abrupt changes to their training curriculum, including remote/virtual read-outs, social distancing, and possible jeopardy coverage of COVID wards. Since the pandemic, imaging volumes have increased dramatically, overwhelming radiology staff and trainees alike. Many trainees feel pressured to focus on quantity rather than quality of reports. Amidst today’s post-pandemic hangover, there is a need to both re-visit and develop new methods to promote trainee wellness and prevent trainee burnout.
